Brilliant, beautiful butterfly paintings!

One of our letters of the week this week is B, so we made some brilliant, beautiful butterfly paintings!

We painted one half of a butterfly outline. Instead of doing our usual neat colouring inside the lines,  painted dots and lumps and 'splodges' of different colours. Then, we folded the paper in half. We pressed, poked and 'smooshed' the paper to spread around and mix the paint. Then, when we unfolded the paper...

Surprise! A beautiful, colourful butterfly!

We are super proud of our paintings, and today we did some wonderful writing about them too.

Check them out next time you are in our Pūkeko learning space.

Write a comment below about what you think about our awesome paintings.

  1. Kia ora Pūkeko,
Wow these are just gorgeous! I love the Brilliant Beautiful Butterflies! What great colours you have chosen. I wonder if there are any swan plants around the school so you can see some of these in real life?

    1. Hello Mrs Clifford,
Thank you for looking at our butterfly pictures and leaving us a comment. There aren't any swan plants at our school at the moment but some of us have swan plants at home. Some of us had swan plants at our old preschools. We love learning about caterpillars, chrysalis' and butterflies.
