Oobleck with Miss McKenzie

At Discovery Time on Friday, Miss McKenzie ran a super fun activity.

She made Oobleck with some children! Oobleck is a crazy substance - sometimes it feels runny like a liquid, and sometimes it feels harder, almost like a solid!

The best kind of Oobleck is colourful and made with food colouring so sometimes when we are playing with it our hands change colour! So fun!

Here is a recipe if you want to make Oobleck at home.

Oobleck Recipe:

Ingredients:

2 cups corn flour

1 cup water

Food colouring (optional)

Method:

Mix 2 cups of corn flour and 1 cup of water in a bowl

Mix them togetehr until Oobleck is formed

If you would like to colour your Oobleck, add food colouring to the water and then mix with the corn flour

  1. That looks like so much fun Pūkeko. We have been learning about solids and liquids in science. Miss Pugh said we might try making some oobleck at the end of our science unit.
