Football Festival

On Tuesday we were lucky enough to have some people from Halswell FC visiting our school for a Football Festival. Together, we walked across the road to Te Kahu Park, where the Football Festival was set up for us. First, we played a football skills game called 'Shadow Shooters', where we had to practise dribbling the ball, and kicking it through a goal (our partners' legs!) Then, we played a game of 5 on 5 football. For some of us, it was our very first time playing football. It was great timing for us to try something new, as we have been learning about our school value of 'Explore' this week - which means being brave and trying new things!

iPad learning

Over the last couple of weeks we have been doing some learning about the very important rules we need to remember when we use the class iPads for our learning. 1. When carrying the iPad use two hands to hug and hold. 2. Always put your device on a flat surface when it is not in your hands. 3. Press gently on your iPad. 4. Always make sure your iPad is safe. Do not leave it anywhere it may get damaged. 5. Make sure that your hands are clean and that your iPad is kept away from water. (It can't swim!) 6. Only take your iPad outside if you are with a teacher. 7. When you stack the iPads, remember only four high. We are doing really well at remembering and practising these rules. We can't wait to use the iPads for more of our learning!

Athletics Day!

We had such a wonderful time having our Junior Athletics Day on Wednesday. We participated in lots of fun activities including Run, Jump, Throw, Shot Put, Frisbee Throw, Obstacle Course, Relays, Skipping, High Jump and Long Jump. Pūkeko have been practising for weeks and it was so nice to be outside with Toroa and Kōtuku on such a beautiful sunny day. Here are some pictures for you to see our skills!
